Sprint planning is one of the critical meetings that is held at the beginning of each sprint. The purpose of sprint planning is to define the work that will be completed during the sprint.

During sprint planning, the development team, the Scrum Master, and the Product Owner work together to identify and select the user stories, and tasks/subtasks (small, self-contained units of work) that will be included in the sprint. The team then estimates the effort required to complete each user story. Team also determines how much work it can pick up and deliver during the sprint.

The team also creates a sprint goal, which is a clear and concise statement of the purpose of the sprint. The sprint goal helps to focus the team and provide a sense of direction during the sprint.

Once the team has identified the user stories that will be included in the sprint and created a sprint goal, they create a sprint backlog, which is a list of all the work that needs to be completed during the sprint. The sprint backlog is used to track progress during the sprint and ensure that the team is on track to meet the sprint goal.

Sprint planning is an important part of the Scrum process, as it helps to ensure that the team has a clear understanding of the work that needs to be done and a plan for completing it. It also helps to ensure that the team is able to deliver value to the customer on a regular basis, as each sprint results in a potentially shippable product increment.

The sprint planning meeting should be time-boxed to ensure that it does not become too long or overly detailed. It is typically attended by the development team, the Scrum Master, and the Product Owner.

By effectively planning the work for each sprint, the team can ensure that they are making progress toward their goals and delivering value to the customer. It also helps to keep the team focused and to identify & resolve any issues that may surface during the execution of the project.
